My story

I'm proud to be joining Team Tommy's in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 to support Tommy's and continue their vital work to help make pregnancy and birth safe - for everyone.

Tommy's fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents. They believe it is unacceptable that one in four women lose a baby during pregnancy and birth. They want every parent to have the best possible pregnancy outcomes and to take home happy, healthy babies.

Please support me to take on the 13.1 miles of the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

Our story-
Myself and my partner Jay were struggling to conceive for a few years. We were back and forth to the GP with pretty much no answers or advice. We managed to conceive in 2020 but sadly that ended in a miscarriage shortly after. Then we were at our wits end a few years later so I booked another appointment which put us onto our journey. A GP sat down with both of us and said he wasn’t sure why this was happening- we were both very active, non smokers, non drug users and barely drank at all- we had tests which all came back fine but with a possibility that I could have PCOS.
After this the GP referred us to our local fertility clinic but said there would be a wait. We were under no illusion that this would take time but we were positive.
It was coming up to a year of waiting so I rang the hospital just to check their waiting times and to my surprise they told me we were to be called in the month later. We were delighted.
In this gap we found out that we were pregnant for the second time- I spoke with my doctor straight away and said cancel the fertility appointment just in case someone else needs it. She advised to keep the appointment as a just in case. A few days later I had a miscarriage for the second time.
This one personally hit us like a brick as I thought I would never be able to carry a pregnancy longer than the first trimester.

We had a call then for a date and time for our appointment at the hospital- we were obviously really upset as just a week previous I was bleeding. We spoke about this with the consultant and she advised us to wait a month to recover physically and mentally. We were there at-least 3 hours going over everything.
The fertility clinic then advised us they could offer us a place on a fertility medical trial where we would not know what medication we were on- we then found out that this medical trial was run by the Tommys charity.

A month after starting the medication we had a positive test and was scanned weekly to check babies progress. We were given medication to help keep the baby growing and week by week we were bursting with excitement.

Our baby is 11 months old now as I am writing this and I honestly am so so grateful for being offered this trial as he is the most gorgeous little boy. Thanks to Tommys our dream of becoming parents is now a reality and we pinch ourselves every day in disbelief.

When I do this run he will be 20 months old.

We will forever be grateful for the doctor that referred us, for the consultant who accepted us a candidates and for Tommys running the whole medical trial that brought us our perfect little boy.
