My story

I’m incredibly proud to be taking part in London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027 as part of Team Tommy's.

A few years ago, before we welcomed our beautiful little Marlow, we lost a baby. I had a missed miscarriage between 8 and 10 weeks with what would have been our second child.

It was one of the hardest, most isolating times of my life. Like so many women do I tried to put on a brave face, but underneath the experience was deeply traumatising and difficult to get through.
Both the mental and physical recovery was tough, and it is something I don't think I'll ever fully move on from.

In the UK, 1 in 4 women will lose a baby during pregnancy or birth. It is so common, yet it still feels like something you can't speak about, a kind of taboo subject.
We are often expected to just carry on as normal while hiding a heartbreak that fundamentally changes you.

It completely steals what should be the happiest time in your life and turns it into one of the most sad and stressful. It takes all the excitement out of future pregnancies, because instead of celebrating, you are just constantly living in fear and waiting for something to go wrong. It completely changes your perspective on pregnancy and having children.

When I was going through my loss, I found Tommy’s online information and resources helpful on what to expect and how to navigate my loss.
When you feel entirely lost and in the dark, their expert, midwife led advice is genuinely helpful.

I am running to give back to the charity that helped me and so many others, and to support their groundbreaking medical research aimed at finding out why miscarriages happen so they can prevent other families from experiencing this heartbreak.

Tommy’s believes that every parent deserves to take home a happy, healthy baby. Your donation directly funds their vital work:

£10 could fund a clinical trial researcher for an hour, bringing us closer to medical breakthroughs that prevent miscarriage.

£30 could pay for a call to the Tommy’s midwife helpline, providing expert and compassionate support to a parent navigating pregnancy after loss.

£100 could help fund a specialized clinic appointment for a mum at high risk of complications.

Every single pound makes a massive difference. Thank you so much for supporting my training, my 21km run through London, and a cause that is so close to my heart 💕

Thank you for your support, and if you have been through a similar situation or are going through it now, please feel free to reach out or share your story. I wish I had somebody to talk to who understood and had been through it during my miscarriage, and I'd be proud to be there for anyone going through the same.
