Why I’m Running (Even Though I Hate It) 🏃🏻‍♀️😅

If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be training for a half marathon, I would’ve laughed (while out of breath from walking up the stairs).

Running has never been my thing I’ve always hated it. I couldn’t even run for one minute without gasping for air, and honestly, I found it boring and pointless. But something changed earlier this year.

After watching a few close friends cross the finish line at the 2025 London Marathon, I felt something shift. I was inspired — and a little challenged. At 42, I decided it was time to do something completely out of my comfort zone and prove to myself that with consistency, commitment, and the right mindset, I could do things I never thought possible.

I’ve only been training for about 8 weeks, and while I’m just now reaching my first 5K, the changes have been incredible. I feel more focused, motivated, and proud of what my body — and mind — can achieve. I’ve already signed up for a 5K, a 10K, and now this big one: the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026.

This challenge isn’t just about running. It’s about personal growth, pushing limits, and raising money for Tommy’s, a charity doing life-changing work for families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. Their support, research, and resources help give babies the best possible start in life — and I want to be a part of that.
